Incredible as it may seem to us today, this twenty second film caused a considerable scandal when it was first shown in 1896 and was even banned in several American states. The plot of the film is very simple; a man and woman look at each other, they smile with tenderness and understanding. The man touches the woman's face, on one of his fingers shines a wedding ring. The man and the woman seal their love for each other with a chaste, timid kiss. It is the first kiss in the history of film.
